Sequences in Context lesson plan: KS3 Maths
‘The Boardworks slides use shape and space sequences to generate algebraic sequences and this will help any Key Stage 3 student to get a concrete idea of what the algebra means. Students will be ready to move on to a purely algebraic approach after using this Boardworks resource.’
Maths teacher Paul Corrie has written a KS3 lesson plan about sequences in context.
In a lesson that covers identifying and creating sequences using tiling patterns and leaping frogs (!), students learn through group and discussion work to feel confident with this topic in algebra.

Tetrominos activity: KS3 and KS4 Maths
"This rich, functional activity can be used with KS2–5 but works best with KS3 and KS4. Choose between focusing on the earlier (easier) or later (harder) tasks with more or less support being given along the way."
Maths teacher Daniel Freyhan has created a fun, engaging tessellation and transformation activity for you to use with your KS3 and KS4 students whatever their ability.
For most students, this ‘Tetrominos’ activity will be instantly recognisable and will help them apply their geometrical skills to something they’re familiar with outside of the classroom.

As with this activity, throughout Boardworks KS4 Maths there are stimulating scenarios to ensure that functional maths is embedded in each and every presentation. To find out more, why not order your free sample disc today?
